Coaching FAQ’s

Life Coaching is like having a personal trainer for your life.  Coaching is very different from counseling.  With counseling, the focus is on the “whys” – why do you do behave like this, why did you do that, why are you continuing to think this, etc.  Coaching is not at all about understanding the “whys”.  Counseling can tend to look backward in time for answers.  Coaching is a proactive approach to moving your life forward in a chosen direction and the focus is on the “whats” and the “hows” – what do you want to do, what do you not want to do, how do you want to feel, how do you want to think, how do you get where you want to be, etc.  Coaching is future focused.

Many coaches insist on a 3-month commitment because you tend to build momentum over time and results may be better after a 3-month period of time. However, I’ve not necessarily found that to be the case across the board.  The length of time, and the amount of sessions needed, can vary drastically from person to person.  I offer 1/2 hour sessions and 1 hour sessions.  Of course, everything is always confidential.

Because life coaching is personal, the first step is to find out if we can work well together – we need to be sure our personalities are a good match.  I offer free 15-minute sessions (one per client) for new clients so that we can determine if our coaching relationship will be beneficial. If you would like a free session, please click here to fill out the form.
